NEWS STORY: Hawkinsville schools shut down March 16-20

HAWKINSVILLE, GEORGIA: As the numbers of confirmed cases of patients with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia increase, hard decisions regarding closures of schools and more, as well as postponing or cancellation of events are being made.

And Pulaski County School System personnel, school superintendent and board of directors have done a lot of searching in regards to the decision-making.

It was decided that the school district, according to a district news statement on its website, would be closed for staff and students March 16-20.

According to the release, all extra-curricular activities have been suspended for the duration of the school closure.

District officials will “continuously evaluate the COVID-19 situation over the coming days. Decisions regarding further closure if necessary will be communicated to students and parents on Thursday, March 19.”

Information regarding student meal pick-up and deliveries will be published on Monday, March 16 on the district website, the school app and Facebook pages. (www.pulaski.k12.ga.us)

Officials expressed their appreciation for the patience and understanding of the parents, students and community.
